Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD) is an inherited condition that eventually causes serious lung and liver disease like COPD, emphysema, liver cirrhosis or cancer, and hepatitis. The gene mutations are of the SERPINA1 gene. Early symptoms of lung disease are wheezing and fatigue. Symptoms of liver disease are jaundice, a swollen abdomen, and swelling of the legs and feet.
